Hello, I am Teresa Ryan, I have a Master of Science in Nursing degree, and I am a dual board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner (University of South Alabama) and Psychiatric MentalHealth Nurse Practitioner (Arizona State University) with a passion for providing holistic mental healthcare. My strong foundation in both physical and mental health, allows an integrative approach when addressing the whole person, not just the symptoms, which enables me to assess the complex interplay between physical ailments and psychological well-being. I am dedicated to fostering collaborative relationships with patients, empowering them through education and active participation in their treatment plans.

My work is rooted in compassion, respect, and a deep commitment to supporting adults, underserved communities, and the geriatric population on their path to wellness. I strive to enhance overall mental health outcomes and improve quality of life for my clients.

Why I created Brain & Body Healthcare

For years I worked within systems that offered valuable experience but often left me feeling like something was missing, which was time; the time to truly connect with clients, to collaborate rather than rush, to prioritize quality over quotas. I saw how mental health care, especially for older adults and marginalized populations, was often fragmented, impersonal, or simply inaccessible.

Opening my own practice wasn’t just a career move, it was a deeply personal decision. I wanted to create a space where people feel seen, heard, and respected. A space that honors the complexity of mental health and treats clients as whole people, not diagnoses. I wanted flexibility in how I approach treatment and more room for creativity, cultural humility, curiosity, and compassion.

I believe healing happens in the context of safety and trust. By building my own practice, I can hold that space more intentionally. My goal is to reduce stigma, increase access, and meet people where they are especially those who are often overlooked or underserved. This practice is a reflection of everything I’ve learned and everything I still hope to become as a clinician. It’s a space built on hope, dignity, and the belief that everyone deserves to feel mentally well at every stage of life.

Comprehensive, Compassionate Mental Healthcare

  • Targeted

Identifying psychiatric needs involves thoroughly assessing an individual’s mental health symptoms, history, and overall well-being to determine the most appropriate course of treatment. This process includes understanding emotional, psychological, and behavioral challenges, while considering any underlying factors that may be contributing to the condition. By working closely with you, we can create a tailored plan that addresses specific needs, supports mental health goals, and helps achieve long-term well-being.

  • Integrative

An integrative psychiatric appointment combines traditional psychiatric care with complementary approaches to support overall mental health and well-being. In these sessions, I focus on addressing both the mind and body, considering lifestyle factors, nutrition, and stress management alongside medication and therapy. This holistic approach ensures that treatment is personalized, combining the best of conventional and alternative methods to promote healing, balance, and long-term mental health.

  • Personalized

Personalized psychiatric appointments are tailored to meet the unique needs of each patient, ensuring they receive the time and attention necessary to address their mental health concerns. During these sessions, I take a collaborative approach, discussing treatment options, answering questions, and providing resources to support your journey. My goal is to create a comfortable, non-judgmental space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to make informed decisions about your care.

Quality mental health appointments and medication management are essential for effectively addressing and treating mental health conditions. During these appointments your provider will take the time to understand your concerns, symptoms, and history to develop a personalized treatment plan. Medication management ensures that prescribed psychiatric medications are monitored for effectiveness and side effects, with adjustments made as needed to optimize treatment. This ongoing collaboration helps you achieve better mental health outcomes, improve your quality of life, and manage symptoms in a way that supports both your emotional and physical well-being.
